While planning a route on RouteYou, you can easily add points of interest (POIs) to make your route even more interesting. Both in the app and on the website, you can add an existing POI. On the website, you can also create a new POI directly.
Have you completed the first steps of planning a route? Using the 'POIs' button in the white box, you can now integrate an existing POI into your route.
- Once you click the 'POIs' button, you will enter a new module.
Here’s what you can find in this module:- Above the map, you will see the elevation profile of your route, followed by a brief overview of the route length, average duration, and elevation gain.
- At the top of the map, you can choose to display only POIs of a certain type on the map.
-
The planned route appears on the map, along with points of interest in the immediate vicinity of your route.
POIs are displayed with icons on the map and a carousel of brief info cards at the bottom of the map.
The active info card corresponds to the bouncing icon on the map.
You can read the POI description by opening the info card. At the bottom of the description, you can add the POI to your route using the 'Add to my route' button. To close the description, click the cross in the top right corner.
- In the POI info card, you will find an 'Add'
button. If you click this, the POI will be integrated into your route, and the route will be adjusted to pass by this location. The POI will be added to your route at the most logical point.
If you want to undo this action, you can now find a 'Remove stop'button in the same place in the info card.
- Happy with your changes? Use the back button in the top left to return. You can now start navigation directly or save your route.
On the website, you can choose to add an existing POI or create a new one.
- In the route planner, click the map layers button
.
- At the bottom, activate the 'Points of Interest' map layer.
On the map, POIs already linked to the route are marked with a black checkmark. POIs without a checkmark can still be added to the route.
On the left, a pop-up appears where you can search for the desired set of points of interest. - Set the desired filter options.
At the bottom, a list of search results appears. Choose how you want to sort them. - Close the pop-up.
The search results remain visible on the map as long as the map layer is activated. We usually do not show all available results at once, as this would compromise readability and map performance. We always show a selection of the 'best' POIs. As you zoom in, you will see more and different POIs.
Adjust the selection by reactivating the filter pop-up via the filter iconnext to the map layer.
- Click on the desired POI on the map. The POI info card shows brief information.
Via the three dots at the bottom right of the photo, you can:- add the info of this POI to the route
When you save the route, this POI and its information will be linked to your route. - have your route planned via this point of interest
The route will be explicitly rerouted to pass by the location of this POI. The location will be added at the end of your route. Note: to link the information, you must also add the POI to the route.
- add the info of this POI to the route
- Repeat as needed.
