With the 'Keywords' filter option, you can quickly find specific routes on the RouteYou website and app. Whether you know the exact title, remember just a single word, or are searching by author, theme, or feature: RouteYou's smart search functionality gives you the best results instantly.
Where can you find the keyword field?
- Website: Open the search page and use the Keywords filter field. Check out the overview of all filter options on the RouteYou website.

App: Go to the search page via the 'Discover' button. Tap the filter button at the top right and use the Keywords field. Check out the overview of all filter options in the RouteYou app.
PREREQUISITE
Make sure search result sorting is set to Relevance (this is the default setting). If search results are sorted by length or date, for example, results won't be ranked based on the best keyword match.
Search tips for best results
Do you know the exact title or a specific sequence of words? Use double quotes "" around your search term.
- Example: "source of the Zuunbeek"
- Result: The system only searches for routes that contain these words in this exact order in the title.
Remember multiple words, but not the exact order? Type the words separately without quotation marks.
- Example: source Zuunbeek
- Result: The system searches for routes that contain both words. Routes that feature both words in the title or description (and in that order) will appear at the top. Routes containing only the word 'source' or 'Zuunbeek' will also appear in search results, but lower down.
You can enter an author's name directly into the keyword field.
Note: Search using the author's account name, not the personal first and last name in their profile.
TIP
Want to search exclusively for a specific author? Use the Author filter option (on the website) or Creator (in the app).
The keyword field automatically searches linked properties of a route as well, even if those words aren't explicitly in the title or description.
- Themes: Type 'World Heritage', for example, to find routes linked to this theme.
- Features: Type 'Kid-friendly', for example, to filter family-friendly routes.

Groups: Type 'Canon of the Netherlands', for example, to retrieve routes within that specific group.
