Account members

On RouteYou, you can use your account to link members to your organization. Whether you're a club, a business, a tourism office, or a publisher: managing a community offers great perks for both the admin and the members.

Handy Benefits

  • Stay in the loop:
    When you join an account, you automatically follow it too, so you'll stay updated on everything they’re up to. 
  • Premium perks for members:
    Members of a Premium account—even if they’re using a free account themselves—can export routes as GPX, print them, or navigate using the RouteYou app, including Turn-by-Turn instructions and voice guidance.
       For routes from a RouteYou Pro or Enterprise account, this is always possible, even without membership.
  • Discount on RouteYou Plus:
    Members of a Premium account or higher with the 'Club' user type are eligible for a 30% discount on a RouteYou Plus annual subscription.
     

    GOOD TO KNOW
    To help you out, we automatically send every new member of a 'Club' account a welcome email explaining their discount perk. It’s a great addition to your own communication with (potential) members!


How does it work?

How do you let people join your account?
 
  1. Set your user type:
    Go to the 'personal data' section of your profile and select your user type.
      Only "non-individuals" can allow other RouteYou users to become members of their account. 
     
  2. Activate the option:
    Toggle the 'Allow other users to join my organization' option to on.
     

    PRO TIP
    If you turn off the 'Allow other users to join my organization' option, users won't be able to join your account temporarily. If you turn it back on later, your previous members will still be there. You don’t have to invite them all over again.

     

WHAT CHANGES ON YOUR PUBLIC PROFILE PAGE?

As soon as you activate this option, two new elements will appear on your public profile page:

  • The 'Members' section in the info sheet
  • An extra box next to the info sheet
     

WHAT DO YOU SEE AS THE ACCOUNT OWNER?

For you, these sections act as a management panel:

  • Members section
    Here you can see who's a member, who has applied, and who you’ve invited yourself. You can also open the module to invite new members here.
  • Box next to info sheet:
    This directly opens the module to invite new members.

WHAT DOES ANOTHER ROUTEYOU USER SEE?

A visitor looking at your profile will see the option to submit a membership request in those same spots. With one click, they can ask to join your community.

Inviting members as an account owner

As an account owner, you can invite users to become members yourself. There are two ways to open the invitation module:

  • Via the 'Members' section in the info sheet on your RouteYou landing page:
    Click Members > View > Invited and then click the 'Invite new members' button.
  • Via the box next to the info sheet on your RouteYou landing page:
    Directly click the 'Invite members' button.

   Once the "Invite new members" module opens, you can choose between two methods:
 

A. SHARING THE INVITE LINK

This is the easiest way to invite large groups of people at once. You don’t need to know their RouteYou username. The link is perfect for sharing via email or social media, even to people who might not have a RouteYou account yet.

  • Click the 'Copy invite link' button.
  • Share this link through your own channels (email, WhatsApp, newsletter, ...).
     

QUICK TIP
The invitee must be logged into RouteYou to accept the invitation. If someone doesn’t have an account yet, they’ll need to register before they can confirm their membership.

 

B. SEARCH BY USERNAME

Want to invite a specific RouteYou user whose name you already know? Just use the search bar. 

  1. Type in the person's username.
  2. Click 'Invite' next to the correct user.

The invitation is sent instantly. You’ll be notified via email and/or notification when someone accepts your invite.

   YOUR INVITE STATUS: 
When you invite someone by username, you can track their status in the 'Members' section of the info sheet. 

  • Invited - Pending 
    The invitation has been sent, but the recipient hasn't responded yet.
  • Invited - Rejected
    The recipient has declined the invitation.
  • All
    The invitation has been accepted. The user is now officially a member.

Requesting to join as a visitor

Are you visiting the public profile page of an account that has the members option enabled? As a RouteYou user, you can take the initiative and request to join that account’s community.

How does it work?

On the account's public profile page, you'll see a 'Join' box on the right side. You can also submit a request via the 'Members' section in the info sheet.

  1. Click the button to request your membership.
  2. The account owner will receive your request and can approve it.
  3. Once your request is accepted, you’ll automatically receive a confirmation via email or a notification on the platform.

   From the moment your request is approved, you’re officially a member and can start enjoying the benefits immediately.
