Navigating offline with the RouteYou app

This can be useful if you want to travel a route in an area where there is little coverage.

The offline use of routes and maps is by default available for users with a Plus account or higher

A RouteYou Free account does not give you access to this functionality. Only the routes from our Premium, Pro and Enterprise partners are free to download for offline use for all RouteYou visitors, including those who use our platform for free. 

Application

How can you download a route for offline use and then where can you find these routes? How can you start offline navigation? How can you delete a downloaded route once you have completed it?
 

Downloading a route for offline use
  1. Choose a route you wish to download.
  2. Go to the route detail page.
  3. Click  gedownloade routes icon.png 'download' at the bottom.
  4. Wait until the circle in the download button is completely green. This may take a while depending on the size of the route file.

    Good to know
    In addition to the route, the maps are also downloaded at various levels of detail so that when you zoom in, you can still see plenty of detail. Points of interest and accompanying images are also downloaded along with the route.

     
  5.  button_downloaded_EN.png the route is fully downloaded and ready for offline use.

Where can you find the downloaded routes?
  1. In the RouteYou app tap the "Profile" button at the bottom to go to your profile page.

  3. A list of your downloaded routes will appear.

Starting offline navigation

Follow the steps below to start navigation of a route in offline mode:

  1. Go offline and open the RouteYou app
  2. Go to your profile page

  3. Tap  gedownloade routes icon.png "Downloaded routes
  4. Tap the desired route. The route detail page will open.
  5. Tap button start route.png at the bottom to start navigating.

 

FACT
Even when you are offline and therefore not connected to the worldwide web via WIFI or 4G, you can use the GPS system in your device. This is sufficient to navigate.
 Usually, your GPS is active by default. If navigation does not work, check your device's location settings. 

 

Deleting a downloaded route
  1. Go to your profile page

  2. Tap  gedownloade routes icon.png "Downloaded routes
  3. Tap on the route you wish to delete. 
  4. Tap the button at the bottom right of the route detail page button_downloaded_EN.png
  5. A pop window will appear asking if you want to delete the route. Confirm by tapping 'DELETE'.
     If the button has changed to  button_offline.png then the route details have been deleted.
