Save a route

Anyone can plan and save a route on RouteYou.

  If you do so without registering or logging in, that route will end up in a collection of public routes. If you want to find your route quickly, we advise you to at least register or log in so we can link the route to your account.
  You can then quickly find the route via the 'My routes' section

  If you have a RouteYou Plus or higher, you have access to additional functionality such as the ability to 

 

How to save a route
  1. Once your route is created, you can save it using the floppy disk button   save-knop.png .
  2. A pop-up window appears in which you have to fill in 5 items:
    • Language: indicate here the language in which you describe your route.
    • Name: choose an appropriate name for your route.
    • Type: classify your route as accurately as possible under the best route type.
        The more specific the selected route type is, the more likely it is that your route will appear in a search.
    • Visibility: here you choose whether to make your route visible to everyone or keep it private.
        padlock.png  This option is only available if you have an RouteYou Plus account or higher.
    • Description: add fun and interesting information about your route to persuade other Routeyou users to choose this route.
  3. Discover here where you can find your own routes Click “Save Route” at the bottom of the pop-up window and your route will be saved under your account.

Why it's best to save a route

You can...

  • consult extra information about your route: such as a height profile, statistics and environmental information
  • easily share your route with others
  • view your route in the route viewer
  • immediately start navigation with the RouteYou app
  • download your route in many extra output formats for use in your own GPS system
  • print your routes in different formats
  • place points of interest along your route
  • edit your route later or create a variation of this route as a copy
  • embed your route in your own website
  • let other people enjoy your route and get feedback about it
