Author score

The author score indicates the amount of quality content (routes, places of interest, news items, etc.) that a profile shares with the RouteYou community.

The variables

The key variables for calculating an author score are:

Rules

The author score calculation is primarily based on the profile's public posting activity over the last 12 months.

The general rule is:

The higher the quality and more recent the posted information, the higher the author score.

We also take into account the popularity of all your routes. More recent routes carry slightly more weight.

The following rule applies:

The more routes and the more the routes are viewed, the higher the author score.

TIP
The best way to achieve a higher level on the author ladder is to create lots of high-quality routes and improve existing routes.

The different levels
  • 0 stars.png = Starter: score from 0 to 10
  • 1 star.png = Pupil: score from 11 to 50
  • 2 stars.png = Expert: score of 51 to 100
  • 3 stars.png = Master: score from 101 to 200
  • 4 stars.png = Expert master: score of 201 to 500
  • 5 stars.png = Silverback: score of over 500

The star rating of each profile's author score can be seen in the info sheet for the corresponding RouteYou home screen.

Your effective author score and ranking, which is your position in relation to other accounts based on the author score, can be found on your statistics page.

Can my author score go down?

Yes, because your activity over the past year is taken into account.

For example, if you create numerous routes between today and [today - 364 days], those routes count heavily in your current score. But next week, they will not count as strongly because they will be over one year old at that point. Your hard work that is older than a year still counts, but to a slightly lesser degree.

We do this because we want to give profiles that were extremely active in the last year a boost over profiles with little to no activity in the past year. This keeps the author list dynamic.
