RouteYou Selections are carefully curated collections of the best items of a specific type or within a certain category, linked to a specific region. They are the "Top 5 | 10 | 20" lists that make navigating and discovering on RouteYou even easier and more inspiring.
We have Selections for both routes and Points of Interest (POI's).

CUSTOM SELECTIONS
Are you a professional organization? We can create custom Selections for you upon request, taking into account specific criteria and conditions you provide.
You can check out RouteYou Selections both in the app and on the website.
On the website, you can find a selection offer in several places:
- On a route page (the link points to Dutch article) you can click through on one of the regions the route is linked to, in the 'Route Information' section of the information column.
This will take you to a RouteYou Selection linked to the chosen region and featuring routes of the same type as the one you started from.
- On the location page (the link points to Dutch help topic) of a Point of Interest, you'll find an offering of different types of route or POI selections in the area at the bottom of the page.
- On the profile page (the link points to Dutch article) of some professional parties, you'll also find one or more relevant selections.
- If you search for 'cycling in The Flemish Ardennes' or 'Hiking with kids in the Westhoek' in a search engine like Google or Bing, there's a good chance you'll see a RouteYou Selection pop up.
The Selection pages help you quickly move forward. You'll find a direct link to **5 fun alternative selections** and you can easily search for other routes or Points of Interest within the region.
Plus, you can easily use the convenient buttons to:
-
Share: Via social media, a direct link, or a QR code.
-
Follow: We'll take this into account when offering you personalized recommendations or suggestions.
-
Print: For route selections (not POIs), you can create a handy guide of the Top 5 | 10 | 20 routes to take with you.
The Top 5 | 10 | 20 routes or Points of Interest and their order in a RouteYou Selection are determined by a smart algorithm that we developed ourselves.
This algorithm selects and ranks the items based on the following three criteria:
- Score
Items with the highest RouteYou score (e.g., 5 stars) always get priority over items with a lower score (e.g., 4 stars).
- Geographical Spread
We ensure that the selected items have the best possible spread within the region. This way, you discover the whole area!
- Recency
Newer routes and Points of Interest are preferred over older items.
RouteYou Selections are currently only generated by RouteYou itself.
Conditions for publication:
To get a great title, description, and (if available) a nice background photo, the RouteYou Selection must meet the following conditions:
- Minimum Score: At least half of the routes or Points of Interest in the RouteYou Selection must have a score of 3 stars or more.
- Relevance: The combination of selection criteria must be logical and relevant (e.g., wheelchair-friendly ski routes are not relevant, while kid-friendly hiking routes are).
If these conditions are met, the Selection is automatically published with an appropriate title, description, and optional photo.
